Re: 7ghz of ddr5 memory
It has to be GDDR5. DDR4 hasn't even shown up as a regular memory. Heck even DDR3 isn't common! We still run on DDR2....mine runs on awfully slow DDR1!

Re: 7ghz of ddr5 memory
ANd wait up, it's gonna be used most probably in HD4870 and HD4870X2, some refreshed parts coming up in JANUARY 09 AFAIK.
And I guess these will be standard for HD58x0 and HD58x0X2

Re: 7ghz of ddr5 memory
Yeah this is going straight into RV870 or if nVidia adopt GDDR5 then GT300!

Re: 7ghz of ddr5 memory
Great.
I hope HD4870 later features a die shrink to accomodate more clock speed.
Imagine a HD4870 at 2GHz
Or, perhaps we could expect something like this from RV800 series. Imagine HD5870X2 at 3GHz per core and 4GB of 7GHz GDDR5 memory. With GPU like that, who needs CPU ?

Re: 7ghz of ddr5 memory
^^You trying to say that Fusion will use memory on the die itself??

Re: 7ghz of ddr5 memory
wish nvidia and amd, both try the ray-tracing technique, with such high speeds.
By the way are you sure its DDR5 or GDDR5 or RAMBUS???

Re: 7ghz of ddr5 memory
Dude, GDDR5 G-Gaming
DDR5 it's still RAM
RAMBUS, company provides XDR and XDR2(XDR2 is 2.8x faster than GDDR5, but 10x costlier)
