good work man.although i would prefer separate programs for these tasks.i.e.,Registry Mechanic,Ccleaner,Perfect Disk,Tune-Up utilities.
but since ur's is a freeware i'll definitely try it after my next windows install |

Thanks for all the feedback!
Over 100 people installed it just today! On a fresh Windows Vista install, with all updates installed, DiskMax was able to shave off 2494.83MB for me (yeah, that's 2GB! - and I'm very particular about having a clean system!). Wait... It gets even better.. A 6 month old Windows Vista installation that a relative came to me with to tune up saw DiskMax cleaning up an amazing... 10GB of junk off it. And since the laptop had only 1GB of RAM, you should have seen the performance difference afterwards. I'm not blowing my own trumpet - I just get satisfaction knowing that even the most non-technical user can now enjoy the best performance (you need proper registry cleaning utilities for the absolute best performance) without having to learn about the finer details. Pass it on to friends/relatives who complain of slow systems and tell them to run it from time to time. They'll thank you for it. 423 installs in the last 24 hours and only so many people have an opinion to share? Check out http://www.koshyjohn.com/software/neosearch.html if you liked this - it's even more popular with over 10,000 installs. Do you think they merit bundling with the December digit mag? in my xp, it cleand >250MB at once.
I wold love to include an option to deselect temp Internet file cleaning, as i think it will decrease my "LIMITED" bandwidth.I prefer 1 GB catch even if it slows browsing on BSNL internet. And ya it doesn't work without internet. My friend is a PC assembler, he needs this on many pc offline. |

DiskMax 4.00 is currently under development:
1. Temp inet files will be made optional. 2. It actually works offline too, you just have to wait till it times-out. If someone truly did not have internet, then they shouldn't mind waiting ~45 seconds for the program to start running. DiskMax 4.00 *might* have an option for offline checks by making use of an activation/updation sequence on a machine with an internet connection. New features include the ability to delete files in use (on restart; eg: index.dat files), far more options, almost 40% more user locations cleaned, support for Windows 7, ability to pause progress, optimization of file layout based on prefetch data gathered by Windows, etc. Thank you for your feedback. If there's anyone else who uses DiskMax here, and you have a feature request, please submit it at the earliest so that the required change maybe incorporated into the code. |

Congrats ! Good to see such a program
I used it. I would prefer that the list to be cleaned be displayed first, instead of the program directly going ahead with doing the cleanup.

Good program. I just used it on my new lappy that runs Vista and it cleared 256 Mb of space. Good work! But I think it would be good if you could make the cleaning of Internet and temporary files optional as I didn't want to delete them.

anandk,
List first would be a little hard to implement as my list keeps expanding and I want a good looking GUI. But I have included better documentation along with prompts to take in user choices at appropriate moments to make up for that. topgear, thanks for the publicity! I hope you are more than satisfied with the program. amol48, Your request has already been implemented in the next version (under dev). jia, yours is the kind of situation that this program was created for. how would you compare system performance before/after running DiskMax? Here's a teaser shot of 4.00:

That's certainly unexpected...
What operating system are you using? Which version of Internet Explorer is installed? I'm assuming you are using XP because it runs fine on Vista and 7. I've made a minor modification to the program that should let you run it without encountering the error again but I still need to know the above details so that I can pinpoint the problem. Thank you very much for your patience. Last edited by koshyjohn; 27-02-2009 at 05:28 PM. |

DiskMax3.exe for Windows XP/2003 (http://koshyjohnuk.googlepages.com/DiskMax3.exe) DiskMax.exe (version 4) for Windows Vista/2008/7 (http://koshyjohnuk.googlepages.com/DiskMax.exe) It really doesn't matter which version you download - if the program detects that it has not been matched with the right OS, it will guide you to download the correct one. And considering that it is quite small, it is hardly likely to test anyone's patience. Thank you for your time sekhar. I'm sorry to have inconvenienced you. |

I am working on version 4 to completion now (documentation in progress). I will then update version 3 or maybe fix version 4 to work with XP. Quote:
I might be able to fix the error that occurs when version 4 is run on XP but it will be hard to modify the GUI to draw well on XP - because unlike Vista, XP does not have GPU accelerated graphics - XP is just starting to look so so old. Quote:
