stubborn icon

I downloaded a email attachment with .eml extension. Intially I could not open with MS Word. I asked the person who sent it and he suggested me to d/l word viewer 2003 to view it. I could read the contents with word viewer, but now I am not able to remove that icon from my desktop. It shows the size as 0 bytes, and when I try to remove the message displayed is cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or Disk.

Please help me remove this icon from my desktop. Tks.

Looks like a ghost entry in the file index.
Click on start->Run

cmd

and in the terminal type

chkdsk C: /F /v

and press ENTER

If the above does not work, reboot Windows, press F8 on boot, select safe mode with command prompt and press ENTER

Select the Windows to logon to (usually press 1)

If XP home no password, otherwise give administrator password

Use the command

chkdsk C: /F /v

Or you can use MoveOnBoot to delete this file. Then restart, and the file would be gone.
