My computer & calculator opening up
I've been having this problem for weeks, but recently this has got worse. After some time of usage after booting My Computer & Calculator opens up 1 by 1. Sometimes 10-20 calculators opens up 1 by 1 and also My Computer.
I ran Spybot S & D, Avast, AntiVir, Avg. I couldn't find any virus nor spywares.
When this happens i'm not able to type properly. Thereby causing completed chaos.
Pls. help me guys.

Re: My computer & calculator opening up
This is surely some malware. Try scanning with updated definitions. If that doesn't work, you can install a trial of KIS 2009 with updated definitions and scan.

Re: My computer & calculator opening up
Do you have a multimedia and/or wireless keyboard? Check if any keys are depressed or maybe your keyboard has too much wireless range or you can try with a different keyboard and see if the problem persists.
Does this happen when you are connected to the internet or even offline? Because you have SupportSoft RemoteAssist installed, so unless you use it to provide(or receive) remote assistance, it could be someone playing a prank on you.

I have a mulitimedia non wireless keyboard. None of the keys are in a depressed state. I get this problem almost everyday but somedays it doesn't happen at all.
I am always connected to the net. The software - SupportSoft RemoteAssist wasn't installed by me nor by anyothers using this pc. After your post i tried to uninstall it by going to the control panel, but couldn't find that software.

Re: My computer & calculator opening up
Not sure, but you can try this:
Goto:
Quote:
|
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
|
, where username is your Windows login name.
Delete the shortcuts of any programs you don't want to run on start-up. As with any shortcuts, when you delete them, you're deleting only the shortcut, not the program itself.
or
Also you can try from msconfig

There is nothing in the Startup folder.
In the Services tab in msconfig, i was able to locate SupportSoft RemoteAssist - SupportSoft & i found that its status is stopped

Re: My computer & calculator opening up
You can try the following in the same order:
1. Use a different keyboard and check if the problem persists. As it's a multimedia keyboard, it probably has a calculator button on it and the keyboard maybe malfunctioning.
2. Go online and when the calculator windows start opening, disconnect and check if they stop.
3. Stay offline for a few days and test if the calculator windows open
4. Disable the SupportSoft RemoteAssist service > go online and check if the problem persists.
Code:
Start menu
> Run
> type services.msc
> click OK (or hit Enter)
> in the Services window, locate SupportSoft RemoteAssist
> right click > Properties
> General tab
> under Service status if the service is started > Stop
> from the Startup type drop down box > select Disabled
> OK
The reason I suggest you try disabling the service only if nothing else works is that, if your pc is branded then maybe it came preinstalled with SupportSoft RemoteAssist to help the company with their maintenance checks.
