Windows Internet Attack Virus...help!

my system is almost halted running windows xp....half start menu is missing....logical drives cannot b seen n has become vry unstable....

n often a message window pops up sayin
"Windows has detected an Internet attack attempt... Somebody's trying to infect your PC with spyware or harmful viruses. Run full system scan now to protect ..."

how do i get rid of this...i have avast updated but it cannot scan even in boot time...

Formatt HDD is one option..

2nd can KIS be installed in SafeMode?
If yes, then install and run full system scan and hopefully tht shud solve the prob, itz definitely virus

cant get in2 safemode...it hangs up....i can only get in2 linux mandriva....

KIS doesn't support Linux. All I can think of is booting using Ultimate Boot CD and scanning. But your case is really severe. A format + reinstall may be the only option.

Full format, try transferring imp files using usb to a Antivirus Protected Computer

Can you run a HJT scan and post the scan log? Scan and clean with updated AVG AntiSpyware if you can install it. If not then an HJT scan is one of your best bets.

Last time I saw things like logical drives not showing, most of the start menu missing, regedit disabled etc., apart from other malicious files, there was a malware folder in the windows or windows\system32 directory which had the images displayed in the alerts on the desktop. I don't remember it exactly but the folder was named pc_danger or something similar.

Copy your important files to another drive and format n reinstall fresh copy of windows. This will solve your all problems. Dont forget to install antivirus corporate editions of MCAfee and Symantec. They give you complete protection to your system.

HT scan won't work here I'm sure. And better not copy any file to another HDD. The virus can spread itself.

r they free...coz m tired of downloading antispywares n thn being asked 2 pay aftr a succesful scan....

2ndly....my system has completely halted...even normal mode xp is not working....so no use of any av or anti-spy...i can jus log in2 linux dats all

1. yes they are free

2. connect your hard drive to your friends PC and scan it. Before that install updated definitions files for both a-Squared and Spyware terminator.

If still problem exists than do whatever other users said and in forst case Format

get some live cd......download damnsmalllinux or slax live cd from any internet cafe and make a livecd

set CDROM/DVDROM==>FIRST Boot Priority

Boot using the live CD

Backup ur DATA

Try removing any Suspicious Virus .exe by a simple C:\WINDOWS search,if u have any Geeky knowledge of process.

Try goin back to XP..

If doen;t Work...Format

Remember

Have a Antivirus(AVG Free)+Firewall(I suggest Comodo Free...comes with Defense+) for Good Security....

Disable File Sharing and Printing and Netbios

Press Shift while Inserting PenDrives....This disable Auto Run...remove/scan for viruses in Pen Drive....My computer==>Pen Drive==>Right Click Open...Don't Double Click

^Yes that's the right thing to do now. Get a back up of your important files and format + reinstall Windows. But scan the backed up files once again to make sure they aren't infected.

Don't use the AVG antivirus.bcoz it will delete all my .exe files in my system.so at that time i have no backup.

I feel your system is infected with one of those Zlob/Rogue Software infections. If you have not formatted your system already, then download MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and scan your system using it. It is free and very effective.
