Default problem with my old programs

since i got a 256kbps connection the programs which i used to use on my earlier gprs connection don't work properly.eg-fdm.

utorrent doesn't even connect to 2 seeds after even 10mins.bittorrent does it in 2mins but still my friend on the same connection gets his torrents started in less than 5sec.

plus opera ain't working properly i get only 4-5kbps browsing speed with it.

i've tried uninstalling, removing backup files, registry cleaning but none of them worked.plzz help

Default Re: problem with my old programs

Now, I'm no techie, but I'll try to help anyway. This seems to be a broadband server problem. Who's your ISP? These problems are more common on BSNL. I used to face the same problem for a few days due to my DataOne connection(Home 250). That time, the server buggered it all! Some websites worked fast, others slow. Your friend might have his house nearer to the Server or your phone line might have noise. Check your line for noise or get it checked once(Call Broadband Customer care). Try running a speed test online too.
Check if your connection settings aren't haywire in Opera(like you might have enabled proxy server configuration) in the Tools>Preferences window. Also, does IE face the same problem?

As for that utorrent problem, check if the port is forwarded properly(Ctrl+G>Test if port is forwarded...), try enabling the encryption and also see if your connection type has been set to xx/256 or xx/192(a bit lower speed does not cause packet loss). Check if you havent(or have, as the case may be) enabled the proxy settings(Ctrl+P for preferences).
Hope that helps!!!
