Dude, we arent telepathic out here. Give us more details about your config, OS, patches, installed software, blah blah. How do you expect people to help when you dont provide information at all?

if programs dont appear in the list, good, go to their folder and shift delete them.

lol!!

@OP
Try CCleaner......try using a light-weight antivirus like Kaspersky......how much RAM do you have ?? If its lower than or is 512MB than consider upgrading to 1Gig.....run an antivirus scan, chances are that you are infected.....if you are a person like me who listens music 24x7 than use a light-weight media player such Foobar2000 or MediaPlayer Classic..avoid iTunes.....dont keep unnecesary programs running.....if you modified your theme to somthing extraordinary than revert back to XP......tone down the res. ......if any of this things does not help than consider a re-install of XP.

@Sunny
kyun bhai, Mac se Linux pe aa gaya ??

Linux, or maybe you have an old comp outdated which is the culprit, but we don't know the config yet.

My Configuration
AMD Athlon 2600+,
80GB HDD, 512 MD RAM
Win XP SP2

Recently my computer got infected with virus
and subsequently even after trying to repair it, it was a failure
and I had to reformat and reinstall my PC,
however even after reinstallation my PC is working extremely slow

does not have enough programs installed on it, and also I tried TU 2009
At every startup it is unable to load the user profile and just delete every single setting created in last session.

Ccleaner will help solve the Add/remove ghosts issue.

An OS reinstall might help the speed problem.
