Default Confused about Interent Sharing ... HELP!!!

Hello guys,
Anybody have an idea about to share internet connection among windows xp systems network without using windowsn server 2003 / Proxy / window's Internet Connection Sharing(ICS) and 3rd party utility... ?

Last week, I have shocked that my friend's office has shared their intenet connection only using DNS address in the newtork properties settings.. all of the system has same DNS address which is used for sharing internet connection...

How is it possible.?

dear frends,
im waiting for any reply...

dude you need to explain your question. Its basically NOT CLEAR.

We can share on normal LAN pretty easily, and even on internet. which Internet Service Provider we are talking about. And what you mean by sharing Inernet connection, do you mean one broadband connection on one system and other system using that. If yes then you just need to be in network of the system to be able to do that.

You never told the share is available outside their office network or just in internal network.
You have also not mentioned OS you are talking about. Not this not that doesnt makes things clear.

Still just for your info(do not think I am trying to be oversmart or something), if you are talking about Linux and Unix based systems then there is SMB protocol for sharing on internal network.
And you can share by windows file share facility in Windows OSes.

Hi,
You are absolutely right. It can be done without any software. Please follow the steps.

1.Enable DHCP Server on your BSNL Broadband Router ( It has this option. Open in the browser its managent console and enable).
(If you have already having DHCP server in your organization , Edit the DHCP Scope and add BSNL DNS as primary one and set secondary gateway to your BSNL Broadband routers LAN IP.)
2.Now go to your PC and go to command promt and type ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew.
3.It will now take IP from BSNL Broadband Router and will set DNS Automatically.
4. As the BSNL Broadband Modem is having built in NAT option no proxy is required.

You are done

Well first of all I am sure that NOBODY understood your original post. The method described is a standard method of internet access in most cyber cafes here. Have a bbrouter with dhcp server, hook it up to a switch, and have pcs connected to the switch with automatic network configuration enabled. As the pc boots it will take the settings from the dhcp server on the bb router, including the dns settings you have fed in there.

Moral of the story: Bad syntax is not fashionable. It's not useful either especially when you are looking for help; it pays to be clear.
