Default Please suggest a light weight CD/ DVD burning software

As the title says ..

Please suggest a light weight CD/ DVD burning software

I was using Nero (came with the burner) but taking a lot of resources.

Then I got portable infrarecorder, works great except for

CD to CD / DVD to DVD (source and destination same).

Any free + light weight + portable(preferred) burning software ? Need support for disc to disc copy.

I posted it in the "cleaning up trash" thread. First uninstall nero if you already have it, and reinstall, but in the installation options, untick everything except startsmart, express, and burning rom. That makes the install take only 146 MB, and burning takes around 45-50 MB in memory. Not exactly lightweight, but compared to the highly bloated 1 gig install and 100 mb memory it takes regularly, its better like this. Since nero is one of the best burners feature-wise, I guess this one's better than others suggested here Try it.

Ya.. I do it this way.
If you use all its features then it takes more than 200MB in my case.

So using only StartSmart is the better.

Try Nero Micro - Nero on Steroids.
Its a Stripped down version it includes
* Nero Burning ROM
* Nero Express
It leaves out everything else.

so its quite fast & responsive

Thanks a lot for the suggestions friends.

I tried almost all softwares listed by you. Really nice ones.

For simple use (like data disks, image burn etc), I still prefer Infrarecorder, only drawback I can see is the one mentioned before, I mean Disk to Disk copy is missing. Other than that, it is nice - simple and small.

+1 for Ashampoo. Its very light, clean menu navigation and hasnt made an DVD useless with any burning errors.....yet. A must try I would say.

Ashampoo is the best option and if you have not got the Digit disc version, they give version 6.5 for free.

Ashampoo is a very nice burner. I guess version 7 is available for free as well. Version 8 is the latest.

Me 2 do the same thing. There is no need of all other component. Installing everything from package just because we paid for the copy is idiotic.
Install only those component which u really need n use.

Actually memory and HDD space usage was one thing and next thing was - portable. As I mentioned before infrarecorder was working fine for this except the other point I mentioned. On google search, I got a link to Ashampoo portable, but not sure whether its official / legal.

Also, how to make sure it is really portable. I mean when I tried, it didn't install anything, just an exe file, but any registry entries ? How to check that ?

You Can check for registry entries manually by Start>Run>Regedit , and then search for your product in HKEYlocalmachine softwares or something..Ask Vishal he is registry expert .
Best way to check is look at the download link, if it is from ashampoo.com then its official!

And Legal
