Default My Computer issues


whenever i open My Computer,and try to double click on any of my drives, an Open With window opens up everytime.
I use Windows XP SP2.

Boot into Safe Mode, in the drives delete the Autorun.inf file and the batch associated if any.

tried that.
can't show view hidden files.went to tools and tried it lots of times but still can't view it.
did a dir command and found it through command prompt but can't find it at all.
any other ways you know of perhaps?

Yes, Delete the Autorun.inf file. But you may not be able to delete it. Because More likely than not this is a virus infection.

And AFAIK turn off all unrecognizable and unwanted programs from startup.

xplorer2 is a nice and free tool to browse such infected drives. If you double click the drive; the virus gets active each time.

I hope it isnt a virus but if it is, do ask here. Id be glad to help.

Go to command prompt and to the root of your drive and execute the following commands

attrib -s -h -r autorun.inf
del autorun.inf

If this doesn't work boot from a Live Linux DVD and open your partitions you can view all the hidden and system files including the autorun.inf file.....delete it.
