Default Comp gone whacky

My computer config is:
P4 3.0 GHz HT
512MB DDR 333MHz RAM
Intel 915 Motherboard
XFX 6200 TC(64MB DDR)
XP SP3 Genuine

The problem is that every time I switch on the computer, by the time the desktop screen appears, everything becomes as slow as a P2 processor running Vista, actually slower. And even if I open a folder, half the time the computer stops responding. Once, I waited for half-an-hour but to no avail. What is the problem?

Also, when I run CPUz, it shows that my processor is running only @ 2.2 GHz! What is this? And same for the RAM. When I run CCleaner, it shows that there is only 502MB RAM, which was not the case 2 months ago. Please help!

How many entries are there in your system startup? Make sure you don't want too many apps loading when you boot. Heard about msconfig?

Hopefully you did it one at a time. (installed one after uninstalling the other)

What does you BIOS show about you processor clock speed?
Have you scaned for viruses in safe mode (at boot is even better, if you AV premits)?

Yes, I tried them one by one. There are only 4 registries for startup so there is nothing there. I've been using CCleaner for a long time now.
I recently used Auslogics Speed Boost. Initially, my comp. showed gr8 improvements, but a few days ago, when I installed Sliverlight 2.0 Beta 2, aftr 2 days the comp started with its current sluggish speed.

If you have System Restore enabled, try restoring it to a date before Silverlight.

@ comp@ddict
Please Post A HijackThis Log so that atleast we can estimate if any program that is running is a resource hog..as that is what seem to be the case
Also try defragging the HDD
And remove Silverlight/Auslogics if its a resource hog
