Tata Sky + WinTV = Grainy reception?

My friend has a Tata Sky subscription for over a year which has very good reception when connected to TV directly. However, when connected to a computer (Hauppage USB TV Tuner + Win TV Software), he gets lots of grains with the video. Is the TV Tuner at fault or does Tata Sky have any kind of incompatibility with TV tuner cards?

I did see that post, but this problem is different. The same card gives good reception on my normal cable connection. I checked it with my cable connection and is as good as I get on TV.

If you are using component connections then capture in VirtualDub. You should get a better performance.

I captured from Tatasky on a (rotten)PixelVeiw card and still it was quite clear.

i have the hauppauge win TV pvr PCI 2 card.it scans cable all right.all channels are scanned.the picture quality is better on computer than it is on TV.my comp is HP pavilion media media center.
