Default explorer not working while computer starts


explorer not working while computer starts.
i've to make atl+clrl+del...take taskmanager..run explorer before everything comes to normal.

xp or vista?
scan with your av and anti-spy in safe mode.
maybe a malware infection has corrupted some settings
what happens in safe mode, pls check and let us know.
Also Run sfc /scannow

it is xp only.
safemode and other users are ok.

I think that your explorer.exe has been removed from the Shell Key, so maybe you could try and fix that, u need to be careful coz it needs regeditting,

Try HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Shell then in that create a new d-word value and add the path to your explorer.exe, which would mainly be c:\windows\explorer.exe

Save this and now it should work probably

^Are you sure it should be a DWORD? I think it should be a String.
