Angry Hard disk problem

Hi........

The problem is am not able to boot into HDD ............I have 80 GB Sata hdd ..I have check the bios its detecting in bios ....but when i boot up the error msg am getting is "IDE Primary Master S.M.A.R.T has been diabled". What is this S.M.A.R.T ? Where can i enable it? I even checked the Bios settings but i could not find..Everything i did i changed the cable , then i made it as slave and even i connected my HDD to other system but the same error am getting . Please can anyone help me

You can enable or disable SMART monitoring in BIOS.

It depends. Most of the motherboards have the SMART enable/disable option on the main page itself. It might even be labelled (SMART) HDD/Hard Disk Monitoring or something like that.

Google your motherboard name and get the manual for it. Maybe you'll find it there..

go to BIOS and enable "enhanced mode" in sata /ide section.

Hm.............One thing i want to know i have connected the same HDD to other system and there too its showing me the same error Can any one tell me why

Umm... Have you checked your motherboard manual for SMART?

^^i dont know why, but i feel many times that he does not follow the thread instructions.
Because it is repeated thread and i already have been gived this idea to him, but he never replied.

you can also check hard disk power cable & data cable

@Amir.php :- sorry yaar actually at that time i had given my hard disk for data recovery and i was waiting to recover my data .....they told me to connect my HDD to other system and take the back up . I recovered my data but HDD is still having the same problem.


@frzkhn:- Yes i have changed the power cables and SATA cables .........but the problem is same

i dont think disabling the S.M.A.R.T feature will stop it from booting up....

If so then there seems to be some problem with ur BIOS or ur Hard Drive.
try these followings :

1.reset the bios to default settings.
2.try to reset the BIOS by changing a jumper setting on ur motherboard(if available on ur motherboard) *
3.remove the System battery and short the two ends of the batterry holder on the motherboard for more than 3 seconds *


*these settings r to be done wen power is OFF.

Warning!!!!....this solutions could harm ur system if ur not familiar enough with the hardware.....BEWARE!!!
contact a qualified Engg Instead.
