HD problem

i install partition magic and merging the partition but the partition not merge after that i restart my pc then its showing the boot screen but window not booting it show
1-Microsoft Window XP Professional
2-Microsoft Window XP Professional(on volume 1)
3-Microsoft Window XP Professional(on volume 4)
if i logon to first window its start booting and only showing XP bar going left to right but the window not boot.and when i login to second window it give message window could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt;
<window root>\system32\hal.dll plaese re-install or copy of the above file

then insert Xp cd its also not working just only the first message comes checking ur hardware configuration then cd stop i don't wat the wrong with HD any 1 face this problem or recognize this problem

Did you try to merge your OS partition with some other..? Probably you can try to fix the MBR using windows CD. Put in the Windows CD, press R to get the command prompt, select your HDD then type "fixmbr"
That should help you boot into windows. Else you can try some boot utility CDs or linux CD to try and fix the MBR..

its not MBR(master boot record ) problem.when i boot from xp its just show press enter to boot cd-rom then nothing happen only black screen show

Choose the first xp and press F8,choose last known good configuration if that didnt work try loading safe mode to edit boot.ini.
