Default Retain XP while adding to new disk to system

Hi
I'll be adding a new HDD to my PC today (or may be tomorrow). I want to transfer XP from the existing drive to the newer one. For this I am planning to just copy the data to the new drive and and then install the boot loader on the newer drive. Do you think this would work? I just dont want the trouble of reinstalling the OS from scratch.
Regards

NO it wont work that way, simple copy paste wont do...

Use a ghosting software such as norton ghost, make a image of the full bootable partition, next connect the HDD and creat a exact same size partition as our present boot drive and siomply restore the image
