Help to install Windows XP from pen drive

My brother has a Lenovo laptop whose combo drive has stopped working. His machine is infected with a virus and so he wants to reinstall Windows XP.
But as his combo drive is not working, he is unable to do so.

Can anyone tell me if he can install XP from a pen drive(he has a 4GB pen drive).
If u know of any such tutorials, plz post a link.
