While formatting, I always install system command files that keep the DOS running along with Windows XP.

#format c:/s/q

Should install DOS along with XP. Tally, C and almost every DOS application should work fine.

Right click the executable of any dos app u want to run ( in ur case TC.exe).

Go to Properties

Select the Memory tab.
In Conventional Memory change both the settings to Auto
check the uses HMA box under Extended (XMS) Memory
Make the MSDOS protected mode to Auto

If this does not help, you can play around with the settings here, until u find a difference.

Also go to the compatibility tab and check Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 95.

Hope these helps you.
