taskbar does not lock

hey guys i'd really appreciate if any one could help me out with this one.
the taskbar does not remain locked.when i click on lock the taskbar, there is a check beside it but no use, the next second it goes down.plz help asap.

Look in group or local policy if there is an entry to prohibit such change.
Or if you are logged in as admin just register this

right click on the task bar and click properties. Uncheck Auto hide the taskbar, click apply.

yes he is right!! i think ur pc's taskbar isn't locked...auto-hide is enable

no guys none of the above help, and ofcourse the auto hide was disabled, thats the first thing i looked for.

unlock the taskbar and move it to any other edge of the screen. see if the same thing happens.

also in taskbar properties check whether keep the taskbar on top of other windows is enabled.

windows does give strange problems at times. if nothing works, only reinstalling windows helps.

These are typical group policy errors.
Type gpedit.msc in Run... and goto
User Configuration -> Administrative Templates ->

-> Start Menu and Taskbar
-> Desktop

Make sure all entries in above two are set to not configured.
