^No you cant do it in Vista. You are right, its coz there is paging file active on the partition. You may be able to gain more space by fully defragging the partition. If you have say, 1.5+ GB of Ram then turn off pagefile before defragging, turn it on afterwards. Try that. Even before trying to partition using GParted live cd, defrag to get best results. Also, using GParted may give you better results then the inbuilt Vista Disk Management tool as the partition is totally offline while using GParted.
