Wierd Internet connection problem. RediffBol conects and nothing else!!

My comp has started a funny problem. I have a DataOne connection. It was working perfectly fine. And then one fine day, no web pages would open. Gtalk / yahoo msngr would not work.. No other communication to the internet.. except.. RediffBol!! I could connect using virtual machine running linux (ubuntu)! I searched around and came up with fixing winsock.. used this command -

 netsh winsock reset catalog

it did not help. After a few days, it started working on its own. Then after about one week same thing is repeated, save one change. Now it doesnt connect through the Virtual Machine also. Yes, RediffBol still works - though intermittently. Okay.. so any pointers??

OK.. I could fix this one up. Checked up the modem with another freind and it worked. The DNS servers as told by the BSNL were perhaps down. with those settings changed, every thing fell into place.
