winrar doubts

Hi all..

I just recieved a single file as multiple .rar files.when I extracted them to a single folder to retrieve it each I recieved it shows a series of .r"xx" files xx are numbers like .r00, .r01 etc in sequence. What are these and How can I get my original file back..??

( When I again extracted from one of those..i found a .bin and .cue file.. are they associated with .rar compression..I couln't find in the help section of the s/w.. Anyone got an idea..??)

rar can be split as multiple files, all having the same extensions as .rar or different extensions (I have not done this personally) as you mentioned, r01, r02 and so on. Your file was first rared using r01, r02 and then the whole package was again rar'ed using .rar extension, i guess.
nothing to worry if you got the desired files!

This is a splitting technique used by the winrar in equal sizes.....except the last file size in the series(which is generally smaller than its previous files)

it is needed in some cases such as uploading/downloading files from certain
sites (ex: rapidshare.com)

so what should I do next..Extract all those .. .r00, .r02 ..etc to a single folder..??

yes, just right click on the first file and click extract. should get you the files buried underneath

i got a .bin file and a.cue file.. these are a series of 3d renderings in video format...so are these the contents..?? or do i need to do anything else..??

yes, that is the file which was rar'ed. its an image file. i use powerISO for mounting files. You can also choose Deamon tools alternatively.

.bin & .cue are image files (not jpeg or bmp) & can be opened by alcohol
or daemon tools & even winrar supports them

u know dat what content it has bcoz u r extracting it 4 ur purpose

no karan..I know what the contents are but not sure abt the presence of these formats .cue and .bin there ..thtz it

"not sure" u mean 2 say only 2 files are there .bin & .cue then mount them in
daemon tools & see whats inside u'll know better

.bin & .cue are cd image formats (like .iso) you can use nero,roxio or any cd burning software to burn the cd.........or use ultraiso,poweriso to extract content from it...........ultraiso and poweriso will show the contents in it .......then u can decide to extract a part of imge or all contents of image.

You extract the no1 file from it and this will automatically merge and extract all the files which are in serial numbers. These are techniques of splitting a large file into smaller and then retransforming into a single file.

Thanks guys...So in the case of cd images..can we burn all the images into a single dvd..??
