Window XP teaser

well, i have just installed XP in parallel with Vista.
the problem i am facing in XP is that, whenever i open any menu, like taskbar, it automatically closes in 2-3 seconds.
The same happens with numerous control pannel items,properties of any file, etc.
My frnd installed windows media centre edition, he faces the same problem.
is it some virus?

Specify your computer specifications. Is it showing some error message before closing up?

no error msg showing up,
i am using inspiron 1420, 1 GB RAM,C2D T5450,160GB HDD(all are basic configuration of inspiron 1420)

seems like brontok (virus), download the trial version of NOD32 and run a complete scan of all ur drives.

ucan also use kaspersky online scanner http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner .
