Default windows booting take a minute


i installed fedora 8 and windows xp .windows booting takes a long time.pls hlp me its testing my patience

Disable all unnecessary startup items, services, animations. Scan your pc with anti-virus. You can also visit following tutorial to speedup Windows:

the problem is while booting the windows xp. it took nearly one minute for getting windows welcome screen . i scaned with avg no threats found.pls hlp me guys .........................

option1: Go to BIOS setting/boot setting and select the fast boot option.
also select boot preferences, Internal HDD>on board CDROM>floppy.....
option2: remove useless,unwanted startup programme.

revert back if you find it useful.

zonealarm can cause this. no standard solution for the problem. if you have it, just live with it.

if you dont have zonealarm, i dont think its the unwanted startup programs as INS-ANI said, as you said it takes you time to get to the logon screen itself. all startup progs run AFTER the welcome screen. so you might have some drivers loading before that, check any unwanted drivers you might have installed. or maybe any boot-time optimizations you might have done like boot time defragmentation, registry compact, system file checking, something like that maybe?
