Unhappy VISTA SP1 Setup error

I am running win vista ultimate 32 bit . I downloaded the latest Vista SP1 as a stand alone installer (x86) of about 434 mb .However after running and reaching near completion it gives an error saying -

An internal error occurred while installing service pack.

Error code: 0x80070002. see
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=101139 for details

I went to website and it said to run cmd->as admin->file verification . But even the file verification stops after 59% saying process an not be done or something like that .

The Windows vista ultimate(32 bit) had came preloaded by the dealer .He said that he had used some vlite cd . I had an original disc but it is of 64 bit vista ( Please don't comment how did i get it ) however my pc run's slow so i avoided it .

Please tell me how to install this service pack ?

My friends says that it is better to directly slipstream in the installation disc but i do not have the installation how can i do it. Is there any method to make an installation disc from existing windows installation . My vista shows that it is genuine and activated .

Vista Service Pack 1, cannot be installed on a v-lited Vista. You need a full installation of Vista. Contact the dealer from whom you purchased and ask him to to do a full install of the Vista ultimate. If you had paid for a full ultimate Vista, he should do that and also give you the original DVD alongwith a certificate of authentication with the product ID on it.
On the other hand if you have a pirated version, forget about Service Pack 1.There is no way.

I think i have to install vista 64 bit only . Actually my pc run dirty slow in 64 bit otherwise i am quite happy with it . Can i remove some components after slip streaming sp1 in 64 bit .

I asked the dealer ,he said that he is not a authorized dealer only assemble the machine ,however he said that vista itself is quite stable and there is no need to upgrade and told me to wait till he finds a solution ( I thought he said i have to ask my fellow piraters :-P )

You may try what fuzail has suggested but there is no guarantee that you "will" succeed. It can only be a "may."

Here is what Paul Thurrot says in an Nov 2007 article.

"First, Microsoft is disabling the two most common exploits that exist today for bypassing product activation in Vista: The grace timer hack, which resets the activation grace time of the product, in one case all the way out to 2099, and the OEM BIOS hack, which intercepts calls to the BIOS, preventing Vista from accurately determining when hardware changes are made. Pirate Windows users utilizing one of these hacks will see their systems return to the intended state--typically a grace period countdown--once SP1 is installed."

Good luck .

Smile Re: VISTA SP1 Setup error

TEE HEE Well i don't think the hackers are so naive and this article refer to nov 2007 . We may as well see a HACKED SERVICE PACK 1 soon . I think it is better to wait and see any further development take place before migrating to 64 bit.

In fact sometimes i think it is all part of Microsoft big conspiracy ,first they deliberately allow piracy by not curbing it in initial stages ,so that every one has easy access to Microsoft products and a monopoly is reached ,and now at present time every body is using Microsoft products as if there is no alternative and now whether legal or not we are forced to use Microsoft products and indulge in making it work either legal or other way .
