Problem with hidden folders

hi all,

My software problem is i am hiding a folder and after few days if i select to view the hidden files and folders from the tools menu bar i am not able to see my hidden folder. To find my folder i have to use the search function . Is this any kind of virus or am i supposed to change some settings? Pls help me
