Question Weird problem due to virus..

Hey friends,
As always......Need help.

My pc got infected with some virus and now whenever I try to open any partiton on my computer, it opens an "Open with" dialog with list of programs.

I have to open the drives with right clicking and selecting open.

I have P4 with 1 gb ram and 80 gb hd, xp sp2, and avast home with latest definations...It won't help.....

Please provide some method to the problem....

I think ur virus problem is solved but the autorun.inf file still remains in the root of each drive.

When u right click and open ur drive find out a file autorun.inf(might be hidden so enable the option from folder options) and then delete the file . Restart ur computer.

This should solve ur problem!!!

To delete autorun.inf file ..follow this:
http://www.techhunt.org/node/11

Also, if your virus problem is not solved than.......
1) Turn off system restore.
2) Boot in safe mode with networking.
3) Do full online system scan. You can find few online scan options here:

If you want you can also do this:

Open Notepad and copy this and save the file as FixAutorun.bat
Quote:
@echo off
del "c:\windows\autorun.inf" /f/a
del "C:\autorun.inf" /f/a
del "D:\autorun.inf" /f /a
del "E:\autorun.inf" /f/a
del "F:\autorun.inf" /f/a
del "G:\autorun.inf" /f/a
@echo Now Restart the PC!
pause
exit

^^ that will only delete the autorun file and not the batch file associated with the virus also will not clean the registry entries of the virus

^ Yes, I know that. He should also have a scan using NOD32 or Kaspersky...... Avast is not that good.

@niravjadwani
Provide more information about the name of the virus.

Thumbs down Re: Weird problem due to virus..

Sorry yaar, VIrus name I don't know, and seems like it is deleted. It doesn't appear on the scan.

Also, the fixautorun.inf trick didn't worked, the link provided was also false.

Please friends, any other solution?
(Can't it be fixed with some registry tricks?)
Waiting for the solution......

^^ Did you restart after running that Batch file???

Another way of deleting those autorun.inf files.
1) Go to Folder Options and then to View tab.
2) Enable "Show Hidden Files and Folders" and also uncheck "Hide Protected System Files"
3) Now go to each drive and delete those and restart.......

Sorry friend....I made a typo....You had to save it as fixautorun.bat..
Now try again......
