Arrow Can We boot a pc from network . HOW?


Can We boot a pc from network . if yes than HOW?
and can i tell my pc to boot from a Cd drive with is on a different pc?

no both pcs are on.. and having xp..
i want to try to boot pc 1... using a bootable cd in pc2...

In PC 2 share the CD drive on the LAN.

Go to PC 1, enter the BIOS & enable network boot.

not all mobos support network boot actually,check out that first(my 946gzis supports it ).

My old P3 mobo (dunno company) also supports this though i have never tried this.

You can use LTSP for the same.

Linux Terminal System Program. For Lan Boot you need to have the LAN Card with network boot options.

but while booting the ip address is differnt ...

so i am a bit confused...

my 1st pc is intel 915gav mother board

and 2nd 1 which has cd dirve is.. mercury.. having intel 945 chipset
both are lates 1 i think....




can u tell the step wise ..solution how to boot..

First make sure, both system can share data, means they have proper network connection. Than follow GX in above post.
