video(movie problem) in vista

i have a HP laptop with following specs.
1.9 AMD X2
1GB ram
160GB HDD

the problem is when i try to play a movie file in VLC there is only sound and no picture.
the same file if i play it in media player clasic it plays fine, for some time.
after 5 min or so the bottom of the screen starts to flicker. first its not noticalbe after 1 min its gets really irritating.

The same file if played with media player 11 or BS player it plays fine.
why??

try using the OpenGL output plugin in VLC. Worked for me.

no problem here chicha , it both audio and video does come in vlc player but the quality is not that good on LCD, where as WMP/MC plays it verywell ..

i tried openGL but it still plays only the sound.
the flickering problem is only at full screen.

charan i forgot that you and i have the same modal.

Offtopic: i got that tv tuner card.
it seems to be fine but my remote is not working.
it is working but there is no response.

I havent received mine yet. does the tuner work with media center?

it has its own player.
but i think it should, as there is a TV option in media center. Have not tried it yet, will try and tell you.

if ur talking that crappy hauppage tuner card then yes it works with vista's media center

with the package they sent me there was a letter which said bla bla bla
and also quoted the tv tuner card at Rs 6000.
