Talking Sound Problem in XP

hi,

There is a sound problem in my XP sp2.I have creative sound blaster audigy 24bit soundcard. I cannot even hear the windows startup /shutdown /other sound alongwith media sound. What I hear is my typing sound of keyboard. U can say that there is no kind of sound in my XP. I have some good collection of softwares n games installed in XP so I don't want to format it. Can installing Vista Ultimate can create problem like this? I have installed Vista in another drive.

Thank you for reading and providing solutions.

Looks like a mixer problem. Double click on the volume control near the clock and post the screen shot here
