Can't update winxp!

I run the 64 bit version of winxp, after system restoring my pc to an earlier restore point i can't seem to update anymore!? Every time i go to the update page and then click on scan for updates all i keep getting is windows update error - windows update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested page.
I did seek the online support from Microsoft (windows update troubleshooter), tried re-installing the latest scripting engine also changed the registry CSD value to 0 but to no avail! I still get the same error message.
Please someone in here help me sort this problem out as i really do feel insecure about not being able to update the OS. Thanks in advance.

Check the above link and even tried some of the other steps provided by the links yet i still can't seem to update. Still get the same old error....
