Question dll problem in removing flash drive

Whenever I want to disconnect the Flash Drive from my computer and click on 'safely remove hardware' I get the following message :

--An exception occured while trying to run "shell32.dll, Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll"--

Then microsoft's error reporting dialogue comes up. I have sent the error report too, by no reply. please help.

Will it damage the PC or flash drive if I remove the flash drive without the proper procedure?

Default Re: dll problem in removing flash drive

Removing the drive without using the safely remove hardware option may be harmful for your pen drive. Until you find any other solution, you can remove your drive after shutting down your computer
