Exclamation Do anyone have this type of prob about flash drives in Vista

I have Sandisk cruzer Titanium 2GB, the problem is that, in Vista, when I click 'Safely Remove USB...' a window opens 'This device can now be safely removed..', but it seems that the light on the device still glows, means the device is still on, while in xp, it goes off. Any solutions?

Its a known thing in Vista. I mentioned it in "Vista BUGs and Goof-ups Thread" too. There is no need to worry about it.

Thanks Vishal. But wont it hurt the drive, I have found that there are two settings- for quick removal & for performance. Quick removal is ok but what about performance?

No it wouldn't hurt. Only if you plug out a drive while its write or read state is active, it amounts to a risk. While its just in 'ready' state (No blinking), its always safe to plug it out directly.

The "Safely remove drive" procedure actually checks if something remains in the writing buffer of the PC and writes it if exists, to the pen drive before allowing you to eject it. So the only possible harm it might do is not show the recent data you might have written to it.

Simply said: It won't conk out if at ready state, no worries.
