Firefox - does it increases memory need as time goes?
Does it gradually increases its memory over time even if we don't do any action?
I use it extensively and the next morning when I check the memory has grown too much. I had read that one needs to close and open frequently ( at least once a day) .
Please clarify. How does Opera behaves in this aspect?

Yes Firefox is a memory hog...More so than IE...But the advantages it has over IE make me use it....Opera is lightweight on resources...Will not slow your PC for longer periods...But Firefox rules for me....One thing apart from memory hogging irritates me is poor inbuilt download manager in Firefox...If it stops midway no matter how many times you click resume link,,,USELESS...

unfortunately the great open source browser has been affected by a chronic disease which makes sure that as time passes it keeps on consuming more memory there by making life hell for ur computing
