Best virus or anitvirus ??
be careful not to mess up with antivirus and virus

Bit Defender
NOD 32
Kaspersky

these 3 are the best and
My choice is of course, Kaspersky Internet Security 7

sorry harry, i won't support NOD 32, it even can't detect small worms like autorun,avop,w32 types and small usb trojans

gagan i can prove you dear,
my office has 500 systems in LAN all having NOD32 as a main antivirus,
recently all our 2nd floor systems faced problems like :

we cannot view hidden files even we checked show hidden files and folders
2nd is when we double clicked any drives ,it will opens in a new window i.e; autorun , simply saying a autorun-c worm

all of our guys throughly scanned with NOD32, no use
Then Avast is recommended , all systems are done bootscan and we have no such problems as above

@Batistabomb
The inverse has happened in our school. Every computer had avast and some had AVG. They all were messed up with Brontok and Noonlight mainly. Then I instaled NOD32 2.7 on every of them and it found tons of viruses, worms and trojans.

^ And as HEURISTICS are concerned, it did found many Unknown Viruses and asked to upload to Eset.

Exclamation Re: Best Antivirus

I would say that Kaspersky is really good... but ofcourse it aint free... I heard that NOD32 is even better... but i THINK (not sure) NOD32 is only an AV and is not as userfriendly as Kaspersky... Kaspersky comes with all the anti-hacker, anti spam and all the stuff you will ever need... Ofcourse if you dont hav an internet connection or a LAN, and you are only thinking of getting a virus through a USB thumb drive, i would recommend NOD32 (remember you may get confused while using NOD32 if you are a beginner) or else go for Kaspersky... its great

Kaspersky Internet Security is surely better than Eset Smart Security but I still believe that NOD32 is better than Kaspersky AntiVirus.

Edit: @Batista I am not an arrogant type of boy and I respect everyone but can't tolerate a word against NOD32.

Imagine there are 90 computers in a LAB and every computer infected with Brontok and as soon a you insert your Pendrive, your pendrive gets infected and Folders are hidden and an executable file (with the same icon of a folder) is created. You need to open that executable and then access the folder. And moreover with Noonlight every file and folder is made a SYSTEM & Hidden file (also a .scr file is placed) and then you've to "attrib -h -s" at the command prompt (for every file and folder) as you are not having any File Attribute software at the moment (because of no Internet) which can fix this. NOD32 fixed all this.

Kaspersky is expensive but is surely better than BitDefender.....

or if you want you can use the following combination (which I am using)

NOD32 (paid) + Comodo Firewall (FREE and better than every Paid Firewall) + Ad-aware SE (FREE Edition) + Windows Defender (FREE from Microsot)

Default Re: Best Antivirus

but i had seen security softwares ratings and they claimed bitdefender to be the best ??

I was using AVAST + Zonealarm + Spybot with Tea Timer Activated and Widnows Defender is active by defualt on vista... but i found em eating too much RAM i want something which uses very less resources.

Once i had used comodo it deteriorated my torrent speeds
