Windows takes 1hr to bootup

One of my friend can not start windows xp. It takes 1 hr, we suppose, to start. It is passed half an hour now it is showing starting windows.

Boot Screen : 12 min

Blank Screen : 10 min

Starting Windows: 8 min... (still showing)

Please help.

Strange problem. Please mention about processor, harddisk space(total and free), RAM.

Try running chkdsk, defragmenter and remove unneccessary files and system restore points. Run registry cleaner like CCleaner.

Time to reinstall windows XP.

Arre dear..there are so many threads in this forum to make startUp fast..try them.

Well i know a guy who faces the similar problem. I have done everything needful like reinstalling windows, installing ubuntu, changing the cables. Still it takes precisely an hour or a mininimum of 30 mins to boot to the desktop. His config is as follows :

P4 @2.8 on Intel 865 MB
256 MB DDR RAM
80GB HDD @ 7500rpm

What else is to be done? I have advised him to upgrade to 1GB RAM, he will doing the same in the next month. Trust me i have worked with many PCs (that being my job) but this is truly a masterpiece !!

its really strange, please tell in details what did you try, also a temp soulution is

After 1 hr when we restarted it, everything is ok. Before posting this thread (not this reply), we have restarted it 3 times. After 4th time reboot with a interval of 1 hr worked
