Solve my uncle's problem

my uncle said this and asked me to find a solution. please suggest solution.

I have Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.1 installed on my PC. It worked quite well but recently, whenever I try to open the reader or open any pdf file using the Adobe Reader, I get the folllowing message:

C:\DOcuments and Settings\Varsha\Desktop\VISA CLASSIC INTL.pdf (or any other file name)
The application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Subsequently, I tried to repair the installation using Add or Remove utility of Win-XP.

Now, I get the following message:

Error 1304 - error writing to file.
C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_Microsoft.VC80..........etc etc verify that you have access to that directory.

My efforts to remove the Adobe Reader also failed with similar message of some kind if internal error.

Consequently, I am neither able to delete the installation, not repair the installation and neither use the reader.

Please help.

why do I suspect a virus attack?

try boot time scan of avast free edition.(normal routine).

else forget reader and start using foxit.Or if notjing works and you start facing simila problems in other apps. too then there isn't really any choice than to reinstall.

I dont know what's the problem but he can use Foxit Reader for reading PDF's till someone else finds out the solution to the problem.

Go to safe mode and uninstall it.....or use 3rd party software like ccleaner or uninstallers

quite possible scenario if you are trying to install/update adobe reader from a limited account. login as administrator and then try.

Log in using Administrator account. Remove Acrobat reader and left registry entry using Ccleaner and then reinstall after rebooting. Hope it should help.
Otherwise start using Foxit reader, it uses less resources.
