activate window

hi all
i have a problem. i have pc installed with its compatible windows xp with service pack 2.i have made two user. it was running well last monts , but just a couple days ago , i found a strange problem .when i click any user to logon it asks "this copy of windows must be activated with microsoft before you logon". do you want to active now? yes ....no.
when i clik yes " active windows "open.then i give the product key and other thinks to active window. but i fail to login . please help me out.

the activation key it provides just i typed that, but another thing i saw in that activation key i.e it shows 7 block to fillup but window provides 9blocks number.if it is wrong then how could i get the activation key ?

Do you have genuine windows.
If yes call Microsoft customer care..they will give you activation number.

but the number they give that is a isd number.
