Is it oracle 9i ??
You should hav gone with standard install.

FATALITY is the database name that will be having tables created by u.

scott/tiger is the default username/password, it should work.

no need to enter host string.
Host string is use for client accesing oracle on network

it is very simple and light weight !!
it works thr browser as well as cmd line

use 9i or any later version the latest being was recently revealed by oracle is oracle 11g, it offers many benefits over previous versions. if i correctly remember it supported grid computing. and is altogether faster than previous versions. also you can try MySql.its also nice.

Also oracle 8i is supported on windows 2000.
and oracle 8 personnel edition of win 98

yeah 9i and above are best, JAVA JDBC connectivity is much easier.

My SQL is good one but then in our college Oracle 9i is installed.

My SQL doesnt support procedures and subqueries.
