Sound and vista home basic....problem

hi guys...am using Windows Vista Home basic on ma Compaq v3424au...when i and playing ma DVDs or CDs den i can't hear da sound frm them...i've chked everything (hardware) and dey all r fine...so can ne one plz hlp me???..

Which sound card are there in ur Lappy? Realtek one? If it is not running properly then try the companies own drivers for vista from their website.

can you hear sound from media files saved in ur hard disk.

well yes i can hear sound frm CDs and frm da media files stored on ma HDD...i can even hear the windows sound...but no sund frm DVDs..

If it is in warranty , than take it to service center.

Hmm, Only from DVDs? Weird. . Have you increased the Volume for the Application you are using? Like there is a new Volume Control right?

And Yeh, Have you installed PowerDVD? I think some MPEG2 codecs are required for playing DVDs correctly.

guys am trying to play pirated DVD movies...oppsss sry...but plzz hlp me...and dere is no new volume control n i've chked da volume of da application also

I dont think Vista Home basic can play DVD movies on WMP11.IMO DVD codecs arent bundled with home basic. use a alternate player ... use VLC or other DVD player softwares like PowerDVD etc etc ..

^^Yes, Charan is right. Your laptop comes with DVDPlay. Use it for playing DVDs.

i've used Realplayer 10 gold and even da DVDplay..no gud....no sund...but when i play da digit DVD i can hear da sound....what shud i do???

Are you sure your illegit DVD actually plays sound? Try choosing a sound channel in it perhaps, the player might not be auto-detecting it.
