If you have a Windows disk, the console can be accessed by booting from the Windows XP CD. It will take its time loading the setup but eventually you will see the “Welcome to Setup” screen. Enter the letter “r” and a prompt will appear asking for the administrator password. After entering the password, type in chkdsk X: /r where X is the partition (C: D: E: etc). It might take sometime, but all the chkdsk errors will be fixed.
