svchost.exe : Safe or not?

I am using Comodo Firewall Pro. In network traffic tab shows svchost.exe uses my 90% bandwidth. Also I feel Slow internet connection speed. Is this is a virus or not? Please help me....

if the username is same as that of your computer name there might be something wrong.

User name of the process is "Network service".

i too have 8 traces of the svchost.exe, please tell me too it's a virus or not, because avg & avast both didn't say that it is a virus.

its not virus . its a network service like explorer.

try to close the svchost.exe . internet and LAN will not work

trying to kill svchost.exe rebooted my sys, so thatz the case I think.

To find out what services Svchost is running, download and install Process Explorer .. Run it and hover your mouse over any svchost.exe process, you'll see what services it is running ... Check if any service is running svchost as host which shouldnt be running (like say remote registry or clipbook ... ) ..

if Svchost is associated with System then ending it will reboot the computer.

Tou can use Process Explorer to se what all processes/services are making route through Svchost.
