Default VoIP

I stay in bangalore and one of my friend stays in Hyderabad. We very freq make calls and talk for long duration Which is making my telephone bill a 100page book (now dont me which friend:bleh: )
Now what stuck my mind is,i have an 256k Airtel ultd connection and she too has Tata 128k unltd connection,so why cant we make free PC to PC calls....?

Actually i had this idea even before.I tried Globe7 PC to Phone calls.Though the voice clarity is good, there is lot of lag in between(means she is hearing my voice after few sec)this is quite irritating. This was same problem even with Skype PC to PHONE calls:@

Now i want to know is there any software which doesnt have any lag in the voice(PC to PC calls)??? i.e.the software that can provide me the regular phone quality, without any lag?

Please help me guys.................

BTW iam extremely sorry if i have posted in a wrong place.........

Nobody uses VoIp??

Actually Microsoft has recently launched Microsoft Office Communication Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 products. I dont know about their availability in India right now (I attended the launch conference). These products include new audio and video codecs that give thrice the amount of clarity on VoIP and virtually no lag. Try to get some info about the availability and how you can legally use these.

I use Yahoo messenger with voice for Long Distance PC 2 PC calls (Delhi to mumbai) for long durations . Its clear and lag free on my 64kbps unlimited connection (with an online game named Ragnarok running simultaneusly with 2-3 tabs opened in Opera) ............. i am quite satisfied with it. Try It.

According to my knowledge i think there is no any software for this type of voice lags, also this was the most common problem allmost all the majority VOIP users facing now, i suggest you to go for a good QOS,if you are a Netcomm user it was providing upstreams i heard, but the decent QOS like BILLION may solve your problem

Also download PINGPLOTTER free version which helps you to identify errors in packet transmissions

dude we are taking about VOIP (voice over internet protocol) lag where we can make calls to any desired number in the world simply with our broadband connection,for this we will use different service providers like sckype,net2phone e.t.c;

Here voice lag occure due to upstream and downstream traffic levels sometimes call also may drop

though this may be a late, and kinda techi solution, but why don't setup your own voip server, can use elastics gui for asterisk, download the ISO and google for seting it up use vmware on windows as its a linux solution (don't worry its all setup by itself), use ulaw as codec and xlite as softphone and even your 128kbs connection if its not flaping, will give decent voice clarity and almost no lag performance as you will originating and terminating the call, not any voip provider.
plus all i mentioned here is open source and free.

PC to PC calls, try rediff bol. Yes, I laughed at a friend of mine once who told me that she wanted to chat with her fiancée in UK on rediff bol. I asked her,"Is he mad?", but when I set it up for her and heard the voice clarity I was convinced. It's REALLY good, crystal clear.

there is no way to do so, actually you are terminating the calls to PSTN. so
so then you have to pay to that pstn company.
there are various voip providers which make introductory free call offers, but they are usualy limited to 2 or 3 mins per account, as they are just for advertising there service, if you like it buy it.
as for elastix i was taking of both pc-pc, pc-phone, phone-phone calls,
it just depends on the way you set it.
