Default Cannot view hidden files

I have recently connected my frend's hard disk without knowing that i has a virus. Although kaspersky detected and removed the virus, the effects are not removed.. When i double click on any drive, it asks "choose a program to open".. later i managed to remove autorun.inf from the command prompt.. now the problem is gone.. but, i still was not able to view the hidden files.. I have tried setting
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Hidden to 1, but its value is changing to 0 or 2... I dont even find any harmful process even in my hijackthis log file.. please someone suggest any solution..

Click Start/Run,type regedit then press Ok
Navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL

Now right click on,and delete the value "CheckedValue" in the right hand window.

Now create a new "DWORD Value" called exactly CheckedValue in the right hand window.
Double click on CheckedValue.
In the opening 'Edit DWORD Value' box,set the 'Value data:' to 1

Press Ok,exit regedit,restart your pc.

I've also had the same problem.
I got this trojan/virus/spyware thru a friends pen drive whose PC itself was infected with it.
I was able to remove the threat but the problem of unable to view hidden files/folders remained.
But now thanks to u devil_himself, I've fixed the problem & am able to view the files.
Thanks.
