Games not working on Vista!

I cant play games like Battlefield 2142 and NFS:Most Wanted on Windows Vista Ultimate. I am getting this error when i try to play those games...



Can anybody help me?

That looks like a problem with DirectX 9. But Vista bundles DX 10. I thot it was backwards compatible. I think the game hasn't been installed properly. Try running it in compatibility mode, if possible.

Install DirectX 9.0c on Vista. Preferably the latest update. This will add the required Dx9 DLLs to the system and allow you to play the games flawlessly.

Note: Doing this will not affect your Dx10 status at all. The installer will automatically know what to do and just fill in DLLs and not replace Dx10 with 9. So its safe, do it without worries as this is how we've all been playing Dx9 games on Vista.

u dont need to install dx 9 re-install the game all games are working fine on my vista and xp yes most wanted included

Even splinter cell double agent gave me that error. Installing dx 9 aug update solved the problem.

Reinstall ur Video and Sound Driver once more and then go for DirectX. and the thing will be done.

i fixed the problem by downloading that d3dx9_26.dll

Is NFS MW working smoothly ? It gets jerky on my system.

Ya install the Dx9 update from Digit CD. this will solve the problem.

I installed dx9 aug update .. still nfs mw is jerky. Even tried it's patch .. no luck. Will have to play it on XP only.
