no sound in acer laptop

hello my friend bought acer 5610z laptop-it came pre-installed with vista basic-
but he replaced later with xp pro- now the problem is that sound device isn't working-i downloaded its intel media graphic accelerator \installed realtek--but still no sound driver -after boot it says found new pci device-Microsoft uaa high definition audio--but it fails to find drivers and its doesn't get installed properly

As far as I know XP can easily detect drivers of this lappie. (I myself tested this.) So there must be a problem of uncorrect installation. Uninstall then Reinstall the drivers.
If problem persists a frsh install of XP (yes again) is the only solution I can suggest.
