Default Resuming download

I had a 40 gb hard disk(primary, with windows and music) and a 120 gb hard disk.
Last week the first one crashed ...just like that...it has not been detected hence in mnay systems.and it was bought in 2002..so I don think warranty exists(its samsung).
Now I have got myself a new system. There were lot of data lost in that crash.I can restore few.
The doubt is about my pending downloads.IDM and utorrent.

I had made the temp location of IDM(installed in first disk) as a drive in 120gb.So can I resume it after installing new IDM and if yes how?I do have the parts in the other drives.

In utorrent, the case is similar, all the things were being downloaded to the second hard disk. So,can i resume them after putting utorrent back or does it require some files that were in application data of first hard disk.

I need an answer, coz then only I am taking tat HD to the samsung maintenance shop...data recovery is costly na?
