Audio boost Vista Vaio

Hi,

I have sony vaio with Vista installed. I find the movies and audio files and in general the windows default sounds too very low for a maximum volume. I have installed Vista codec pack. I have tried boosting in the AC3 filter but it only works for Ac3 coded movies (i guess or i dont feel a difference really). Are there any plugins or codecs for audio amplification?

i dont use winam for movies. I use vlc or windows media player 11. i tried using ffdshow audio decoder and it works. But at high volumes the volume starts to screech... it becomes very noisy. so the thing is, i need a plugin or decoder not for the software, but for preamplifying for any1. more like a codec plugin or something like that... hope i explained right??
