Help!!!! Sigmatel Audio Driver Problem

My friend is using Intel D945GCL motherboard with Sigmatel High-Definition Audio.....The problem is that when i try to change the speaker config. from 2.1 to 5.1 channel but it still works in 2.1. I tried updating the driver but still the problem remains the same......What could be wrong....please help.

My friend System Config:

Intel D945GCL Motherboard
Pentium D 2.8 GHz
RAM - 512MB DDR2
HDD 160GB
WINXP SP2 with all latest Updates (also with KB888111 High def patch)

Yes i have a Creative SBS 5.1 channel speakers.
