What is the best free and GENUINE Software to check new e-mail replies from Yahoo,etc., out of your experience?

You can use Thunderbird or Outlook too if you have a Gmail on Yahoo India ID as they provide free POP access.If not,then you will have to look for other workarounds.

And please give some meaningful titles to threads you create...

You can use any email client if you have yahoo india account as it gives free pop access. If you just want to see the subject then you can configure the client to just download the header.
